“ This is a story of six sisters in a world protected by the Power of Song. But one of these sisters seeks to bring about the world's ruin. And she won't rest until all the others are dead. ”

Once in a land torn by war and the cruelty of it's warlords, there was a group of rebels fated to die after attempting to start a revolution, denouncing the corrupt and tyrannical lords. This group of rebels, these five women had been unknowingly sold out by someone who they should have trusted... but trust is meaningless in a world built on war and chaos. Trust gets you tortured and mutilated, sentenced to death alongside a "common" murderer, and your body was left to rot under the brutal sun and the unpredictable weather. Unsurprisingly, each revolutionist died, exposed to the elements and already on the cusp of death. The cruel warlords had made sport of the five rebels and the murderer, promising that the last to survive would be buried alive along with the corpses of the other.

It was a mercy bestowed upon the last of the rebels that she would die before the elder prisoner. For although she was in agonizing pain, and she had been the most willful of the rebels, she did not deserve such a fate. She swore again and again that what she had done was right. That seeking to dethrone the cruel Lords, they would be allowed a new age of freedom. A new hope for peace. It was this strong sense of justice, so hopelessly unswayable, that stuck the most with the murderer. For even after the girl died, she would be remembered.

And as the murderer began to slip into the icy grasp of death, a flower bloomed between her and the rebel's corpse.

A flower which did not belong to this world. A flower whose only real purpose was the destruction of the world. A parasite that had sought the perfect host. A host who would go by the name of Zero.

The Flower blessed Zero with a new life, and powers beyond the magic of the realm. The Power of Song. The catch was simple, of course, Zero would incubate the Flower and use her new gifts to fuel it's purpose. Destroy the world. However, Zero did not want to be used by the Flower, she would not be a tool for mindless destruction. She attempted to kill herself, stabbing herself in the heart. But the Flower would not allow her to kill it so easily. Taking advantage of Zero's weakened state and open wound, the Flower sprouted forth and created five daughter-sisters. Five children that it spread it's power to, assigning each one a unique gift, a unique song.

“ If murder is a sin... What about killing to save the life of someone else? ”

With that, the Intoners were born. Five vessels for the Flower, but over time these corpses began to exhibit their own unique traits and personalities. Zero, knowing that these creatures had to die, attempted to kill them off. End their existence before it began. However, the first "born" among the group, One, took notice of Zero's actions. She stopped Zero from killing her younger sister, Two, calling Zero a traitor. Zero could not do anything, finding herself strangely paralyzed. One took advantage of the situation and escaped with her sisters. Though the Intoners had only just been born, they appeared to be young girls, and each one held vague memories of their lives and childhoods. Each memory had simply been created by the Flower for unknown reasons.

The newly escaped Intoners were led by One. They did not know where they were going, or why they must go, but they knew they had to. They knew of their strange powers. They knew that this gift was important, that the Power of Song needed to be used to "save the world." And the first thing they must do was overthrow the cruel Lords of the lands. The Lord of Sands. The Lord of Mountains. The Lord of Forests. The Lady of Seas. Each Lord would have to fall. They had to be brought to justice so that the people could seize their freedom. And so the girls turned to the Land of Sands, making that the first destination. Marking it as the first land which must be freed. (more on these events can be found here)

“ The two of them made up for what each other lacked and they grew up together within the Cathedral. And beneath the light of the moon, the dragon quietly watched over them. ”

The world was still broken. The Intoners knew that well, and One proceeded to send each sister off to a land that would benefit the most under their care. But the sisters could not right the wrongs of the previous lords rule alone. They had strong desires, personal needs that they could not ignore. The beings Zero had created to protect them from themselves and the power of their Song began to change over time. No longer in bird form, they became something else. Disciples. Servants that sought only to fill a role their Intoner desperately needed. They would do anything for their Intoner, taking care of them mentally, physically, and sexually as need be. But due to the circumstances previously set into play, One found herself alone, without a disciple. She felt she did not need one, at first. But over time she realized that there was an important role that needed to be filled should she be unable to kill the traitorous Zero.

Although One had her dragon, she needed to at least create one last backup. Something Zero would never see coming.

Using one of her own ribs, and powerful magic found within Cathedral City and herself, she created a Brother. A nearly identical copy of herself that would serve a purpose similar enough to a Disciple, while he still retained his own sense of self. Brother would fight alongside her, learn to use both a chakram and a sword necessary to kill Zero. A sword fashioned from the tooth of Gabriella. For only something of a dragon could kill an Intoner. Brother was kept hidden from her sisters, his existence only known by One, herself, and Gabriella. It was, of course, for the best.

“ Whether I knew what we were or why we existed wouldn’t change what I needed to do. ”

Over time One began to grow fixated on finding out about her existence as an Intoner. The history of the Intoners, the world before and the world as it was. She combed through the library within Cathedral City when she was not making Brother practice fighting, or checking in on her sisters. But each book she looked through, each word she read... none of it mentioned the existence of the Intoners. It was as if the information had been hidden from her. Why were their memories false? Why had they been created? Why did Zero seek to kill them all? What was their purpose?

Her memories from her childhood were spotted with blood. Memories of the Black Flower taking over her younger sisters, using them to call forth great beasts. Angels. Daemons. She recalled the boy that was obsessed with killing them, that caused her to form a pact with Gabriella in the first place. It had left her with so many questions. And yet, there were no answers.

It wouldn't take long for One to realize that the Intoners were a "cursed" existence. They did not belong here. They were not supposed to exist. That they were beings of destruction beneath their youthful existence. And that meant that both herself and Zero also should not exist. That when Zero sought to kill them all, she would eventually come for One as well. And as they each died, whatever part of the Flower existed in them would move on to the next sister. Eventually Zero would become too powerful. She would go mad with it, destroy the world... One was certain of this.

But One had a backup plan, of course. She would use her twin, her Brother, to kill Zero should she fail. He would be the one to strike Zero down. He would do as One dictated. He was a necessary tool for what had to be done, and, a reflection of herself. Someone who saw her as a good person. Someone who would forgive her for having to kill people in order to create a peaceful world. Someone who would forgive her for sacrificing her sisters. Someone who would forgive her for turning her dearest, most beloved friend into a monstrous parody of her former self. And, through him, perhaps she could forgive herself...

“ Now let us sing of the world's end. ”
